Privacy Policy
Plato is committed to protecting the personal information of our clients
and website users. This Privacy Policy outlines the measures taken by
the company when dealing with the use, disclosure and access to personal
information for compliance under the Personal Information Protection and
Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Physical, technological and organizational
procedures have been implemented to safeguard the security and integrity
of personal information.
This policy only applies to the information collected by Plato and does
not apply to any of our partners, subsidiaries or affiliates. Plato will
ensure that information it receives from third parties is handled in a
matter that is within PIPEDA. The company reserves the right to amend
this policy from time to time.
Purpose
This privacy policy complies with privacy legislation in Canada (PIPEDA)
and internationally accepted fair information practices. It is designed
to help individuals understand how their personal information is being
managed at Plato. Personal Information is any factual or subjective information
about an identifiable individual. It includes such information as names,
income, opinions, evaluations, employee files, credit records, medical
records and any other personally identifiable information. It does not
include the name, title, business address or business telephone number
of an employee of an organization.

Accountability
We are responsible for properly managing any personal information
that is under our control in accordance with the ten privacy principles
forming PIPEDA. We have a designated individual responsible for ensuring
this information is properly managed and for ensuring that policies and

Identifying Purposes
The purpose for collecting any personal information will be identified to individuals before or at the time of collection. This will include identifying why information is needed and how it will be used.
Information That We Collect
You may visit this site at anytime without revealing personal information.
For the most part, information collected by Plato is not personal in nature
but relates to business information received from our business customers.
In some circumstances, Plato may request and/or collect personal information,
such as receiving applications for employment or in carrying out our business
operations (such as requests for technical and network support). You have
no obligation to submit any personal information and your submission or
response is voluntary. Plato will protect the confidentiality of any personal
information and communications provided by customers and site visitors
to the fullest extent possible and consistent with PIPEDA and internationally
accepted fair information practices.
How Information Is Used
This information will only be used for internal purposes, which include such things as:
Client relations
To communicate company news and updates
Contact lists/information
Internal market research
To provide service, support, materials or related information that you
request
In the case of employment application submissions, Plato's Human Resources
staff will use your information to determine if suitable employment
exists, given your qualifications and experience.
At no time will we sell, trade, lease or distribute personal information
to a party outside of Plato. Furthermore, at no time will employment
applications be shared outside the Human Resources staff of Plato.
Consent
Plato will inform individuals of the purpose for collecting, using or
disclosing personal information before or at the time of collection
and will obtain consent for any additional purposes or uses later identified.
Consent can be given as follows:
Signature on a consent form
Verbal consent where signature is not possible (e.g. telephone)
Electronic consent (e-mail or fax)
Unless you otherwise consent, your information will only be used for
the purposes for which it was submitted, such as screening against potential
job opportunities, responding to emails, technical support requests,
marketing and sales requests, network administration requests and other
business requests related to our consulting services and software solutions.
By contacting Plato and submitting information, such as technical support
emails, marketing/sales inquiries or applications for employment, individuals
consent to the collection and use of their personal information for
the purposes outlined in this policy.
Limiting Collection
We will not collect any information that is unnecessary to carrying out the purposes identified in this policy.
Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention
Plato will only use or disclose personal information for the purposes identified at the time of collection or through your consent. All information collected is to be used solely for internal purposes and will not be shared with external parties, unless:
1. We have attained consent for such disclosure.
2. Where required or authorized by law.
Plato will only keep your information as long as necessary to carry
out those purposes identified at the time of collection. Once this information
is no longer needed it will be destroyed and/or deleted.
Accuracy
We will keep your personal information as accurate, up to
date and complete as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.
Should you wish to update your personal information, individuals are
encouraged to provide updates as changes occur. Such changes should
be directed to privacy@platogroup.com.
Safeguards
Plato will safeguard all personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized
access, copying, disclosure, use or modification by utilizing physical,
technological and organizational procedures. We use passwords and firewalls,
anti-virus and anti-spy ware software, limit access on a need-to-know
basis, use privacy/confidentiality agreements and have security systems
installed.
Openness
We have policies and practices for the proper management
of your personal information. This includes our privacy policy, privacy/confidentiality
clauses in employment contracts and easy access to our designated privacy
representative within Plato at privacy@platogroup.com
should you have any questions or concerns.
Individual Access
At any time you may request access to personal information held about
you. Plato will provide a copy of the requested information and will
explain how your information has been used. We will allow you to correct
any personal information if its accuracy or completeness is found to
be deficient. If we cannot provide the information requested, we will
communicate the reasons for such action. Please contact privacy@platogroup.com
for any access requests. Plato will require substantial proof of identity
before any action is taken.
Challenging Compliance
Any individual can challenge compliance with this policy by contacting privacy@platogroup.com and providing details. All complaints will be investigated immediately and in the strictest of confidence. We will try to come to a mutual agreement and will make any necessary changes to our information handling practices. Should you be dissatisfied with this procedure, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
